Visit to the Cheese Factory

The art of cheesemaking has its beginning lost in a remote past, more than 12,000 years before Christ. The Egyptians are among the first people to care for their livestock and have had important sources of food in milk and cheese.

Fresh cheese is very popular in Portugal. It can be made from cow's milk, sheep or goat's milk and is ideal for starters and widely used in diets. Of soft texture, it should be consumed shortly after the manufacture: the freshness of this product is essential! It can be accompanied with honey or jams, dried fruits and peppers or make part of salads. On this experience you will watch the whole process of making fresh cheese and you will have the opportunity to taste the cheese with regional jams, honey and nuts.
